For years, the expert community in Russia has been discussing the depletion of deposits of conventional light oil, and the need to develop hard-to-recover reserves (be it super-viscous oil or watered layers). And since recently, the Russian specialty chemicals market is also influenced by the declining trend in operational drilling volumes. Hence the analysis point is how the markets and practices are changing inside the country and globally.
In the nearest future, positive results from state-sponsored incentives should be expected: in early 2018, the Government of Russia is planning to update the development strategy of the Russian petrochemical industry to reflect the recent trends.
