INVENTRA has the pleasure of inviting you to the Thirteenth International «Polyethylene 2016» Conference.
2015 has proved to be challenging for the Russian polyethylene market. Despite the growth in total PE production, occasional outages in plant operations were causing material shortages. Local producers, having declared domestic market a priority, were trying to keep ruble prices flat, though exports remained attractive. The situation was complicated by restrictions in imports: the European producers introduced quota while prices on imported granules were following the exchange rates. To rescue the PE converting market in Russia, the reasonable sales policy of the Russian plants should be continued. What will the approach of PE producers be in 2016, is the main topic of the conference.
The key segments of PE consumption are under pressure of low end-consumer demand, on top of the situation with feedstock supply and the lack of affordable bank loans. The pipe segment, which directly depends on the construction industry, housing and utilities, has felt the impact of lower purchasing and revisions of existing contracts in full. The packaging producers are either ceasing production as the costs have doubled, and waiting for downturn in feedstock prices, or are trying to re-negotiate contract prices with consumers.
