Concept of 2016 Forum: Development of Plastics Converting

By now, the Russian plastics industry demonstrates positive trends amid the economic crisis: polymer production grows, the range of grades is expanding, while import supplies go down. In the meantime however, the plastics converting business is suffering, though it should have become the growth driver for the economy.

Converting companies are facing a double challenge. First, the volatility of ruble forces local plastic feedstock producers to consider exports, which raises polymer prices to the level unaffordable for Russian converters. Second, the consumers of plastic products are unwilling to accept the new realities, which pushes the demand down, and eliminates the converters’ margins.

The main goal of the «Plastics of Russia» Forum is to focus attention of the industry giants on the converting segment, and to consolidate efforts aimed at establishing the civilized competitive market.
