The Russian market of oilfield services, strangled by international sanctions just recently, is gradually recovering now. The companies in the industry, including oil producers, engineering firms and suppliers of chemical reagents, are seeking co-operation and trying to consolidate. The oil production companies are increasing the drilling volumes in accordance with their annual plans, and the prospecting and exploration drilling volumes are growing too. However, there are technological difficulties in place: at the moment, about 80% of exploration drilling is performed in Western Siberia, where oilfields are in the final stages of development, with tight reserves. With this respect, the oil companies need more and more advanced formulations: otherwise, after ignoring innovations in oil production for 10-20 years, we shall say that «there is no more oil».
Meanwhile, the Russian oilfield services sector is not ready to meet the growing demand, and the main problem is finance: delays in payments for completed services, and restricted access to loans.
Are Russian companies ready to improve the quality of reagents to the desired level? How will OPEC decision affect the market? What has changed over the last year? What are the development prospects for Russian markets of well service and oilfield chemicals? Will producers find the balance between price and quality?
