The stagnation in the local production of polyester resins in Russia that had lasted several years, was replaced by a steady growth, and the experts forecast further increase in consumption volumes. Meanwhile the demand for epoxy resins has remained flat for the past three years, and the share of imports was almost 90% in 2017.

The main constraints for Russian production of thermosetting resins are the lack of sufficient feedstock volumes and the shortage of capacities. However, the large-scale application of composite materials in construction, wind power, transport and related industries can become an excellent driver for the development of the segment. At the same time, the imports in thermosetting resins are already being replaced, with local production volumes growing.
