The past year has proved to be difficult for the agriculture business. The prices for agricultural products in the global markets continued to fall, national currencies in many countries faced devaluation, and production margins narrowed. All these developments did affect the pesticide business. The global agrochemical production saw reduction that followed a long period of rapid growth; the chemicals sales volumes fell by 10%. The decline in the world markets has become a challenge for pesticide producers that forced them to look for new business patterns. Consolidation announcements arrived from many large chemical producers: the time for mergers and acquisitions has come.
