The situation in the Russian motor fuels market remains tight despite all the efforts of the regulator: the wholesale prices rose by over 20%, while the growth of retail prices was constrained to only 5%. In such conditions, the oil majors known as Vertically Integrated Oil Companies can operate their gas stations better than the smaller companies, but still have to compete for the loyalty of the end-consumer. As far as the independent gas stations are concerned, they are simply struggling to survive, and quite often they are just selling counterfeit. The government’s plans to tighten requirements for petroleum products will become yet another burden for the market.
Can we speak of any development of the industry in such conditions? What will be the situation in the fuel market in 2018? We suggest that these and other topics be discussed during the Conference.
