Methionine 2025

Global developments continue to have a significant impact on the animal feed industry.

Russia has nearly no local production of amino acids and vitamins. Almost all the raw materials consumed
domestically are being imported, with the exception of lysine and methionine, and the output of these products is insufficient as well.

The supplies have been re-oriented, with imports arriving from Asia. Thus, the food security doctrine, being one of the main components for ensuring the national security of Russia in the long term, is depending on imports, albeit from the friendly countries.

Like any amino acid, Methionine is a high-value product which is mainly used in production of advanced complex animal feeds, as well as in pharmaceutics. Rosstat, the national statistics service, reports a 2.1% growth in livestock and poultry production in 2024 and, according to analysts, Methionine consumption will continue to grow by 2030 within both positive  and negative forecast scenarios.

At present, Russia has all the necessary affordable feedstock available locally (some of that being overproduced) in order to start output of Methionine, a product so important for the whole food industry. Taking into account low production costs, synthesis of Methionine can be planned not only for the internal Russian market, but also for export, which will bring additional economic benefit.

CREON Group, having vast experience in the topic, believes that the domestic production of Methionine is a matter that must be raised: to cover local demand, to export abroad, and to stimulate additional consumption of natural gas, methanol, sulfur and other raw materials available locally.

On 15 April, at the unique Methionine 2025 Conference, the following topics will be discussed:

  • Realistic outlook for the animal feed sector;
  • Price situation in the industry;
  • Supply and demand balance in the Russian Federation;
  • Forecast for new production capacities;
  • Investment attractiveness;
  • Technological and feedstock self-sufficiency;
  • Many other topics.

We invite all the current and potential market players to take part in this important challenge aimed at achieving the food security.
